2 Cups Sugar
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1/8 tsp. Salt
1 cup Buttermilk
2 T. Butter or Margarine
1-1/2 cups Pecan Halves
Combine sugar, soda, salt, and Buttermilk in a heavy 5 quart Dutch oven. Cook over High heat to 210 degrees on Candy Thermometer - about 5 minutes. Stir frequently, scraping the sides and bottom of pan. Add butter and pecans. Cook, stirring constantly, t a soft ball stage - 230 degrees on Candy Thermometer.
Remove from heat and cool for a few minutes. Beat until mixture is thick and creamy. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper.
