
Irony can be a pretty amazing thing. I was sitting down at my computer to post about Boca Burgers when I noticed a headline on Yahoo about meat. I clicked through and read the very distrubing article. Just in case you want to be disturbed a little – click here to see how Meat raises lung cancer risk. I love a hamburger as much as the next person (even if the next person was Hamburglar, himself), but come on. When was the last time we ever read about red meat being good for us?
One day last week, a few of my daughters (Brittany and Stephany to be exact – Emily was in a college class, earning one of her straight A’s) ate lunch at Denny’s. I’ve really been taking this whole eat healthy/live healthy deal to heart….literally. So, I ordered a Boca Burger, dressed. It was so amazingly good! Brittany ordered one with a Western flair and it looked nothihg short of Heavenly, too. You can actually order a Boca Burger dressed any way the other burgers are dressed – with Mushrooms and Swiss, fried onions, etc. Just tell the server that you want to substitute a Boca Burger for the hamburger. My mind’s set on the Mushroom and Swiss one next time. No idea why I was Patty Plain Plate last time.
By going the Boca route, you save a lot of calories without losing any of the taste. Apparently you don’t just save calories, either – you very well may save your life.
Stop by Denny’s one day this week and give one a try. A Boca Burger and a salad or a bowl of soup is a brilliantly healthy lunch or supper. The soups are Chicken Noodle (Daily), Broccoli & Cheddar (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday), Clam Chowder (Friday), and Vegetable Beef (Saturday, Sunday & Monday). But, be careful, eating healthy might just become a habit.

P.S.S. I have spies in your Denny’s – I’ll know if you order fries with that Boca Burger. They’ve been instructed to bop you on the head with a menu if you try to pull a fast one.

I have decided to stop reading about foods that are bad for my health because according to the so-called ‘experts’ just about everything we eat is bad for us. It will be bad for us for a while and then suddenly another test will show that in fact it is beneficial for our health so we can eat it again. I’ve given up. Just going to eat what I like – everything in moderations is my motto.
