Candy Fudge Sheet Cake

1/2 cup oil
1 stick butter
4 Tbsp. cocoa
1 cup water
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. soda
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
Mix oil, butter, cocoa, and water. Bring to a boil, but do not cook. Mix flour, sugar, eggs, soda, buttermilk, and vanilla well in bowl. Add hot mixture and mix well. Pour into greased cake pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. When cake is nearly finished, make the icing (below).
Candy Fudge Cake Icing:
1 stick butter
4 Tbsp. cocoa
1/2 cup milk
1 box confectioner’s sugar
1 tsp vanilla
chopped nuts, if desired
Bring butter, cocoa, and milk to a boil - but DO NOT cook. Remove pan from heat and mix in confectioner’s sugar, vanilla, and nuts. Pour over warm cake while icing is hot.
This cake’s as unbelievably delicious as the name would lead you to believe. Of course, it has Buttermilk, chocolate and nuts in the recipe - how could it not be Heaven on a plate?!?! It makes a perfect Halloween Cake…or Christmas Cake….or New Year’s Cake…or Birthday Cake…or Just Because Cake…
