I was fortunate enough to receive the 6″ Ceramic Chef’s Knife from Shenzhen Knives a few weeks ago to review on my food blog. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical… intrigued, but skeptical.
I expected this knife to be beautiful (although it’s even better looking than I’d expected) but I kind of wondered how much “bite” it would have when it came to cutting. I thought, “Ceramic? It has more in common with my kitchen floor tiles than the knives in my knife drawer.” I couldn’t help it, though, I was fascinated at the concept and anxious to get my hands on the ceramic knife.
When it arrived, I tore into the box like the kitchen tool junkie that I am. Withing ten minutes (a personal best) I was taking my gorgeous new knife for a test drive. Okay, a couple of tests drives – I was cutting, not counting.
We sliced some limes and peeled and chopped a couple of cucumbers for a Cucumber and Lime Smoothie Then we looked around the kitchen for our next victims. We saw them sitting in a bowl, waiting like colorful little lab rats: Tomatoes, Romaine lettuce, carrots, spinach, celery, and a red onion. Salad time! My Shenzhen knife went through everything with ease – and looked beautiful doing it. Think Jennifer Lopez on the red carpet.
The 6″ Ceramic Chef’s Knife is as functional as it is beautiful. I have used it on everything imaginable and it has worked like a total champ each and every time.
