German Kraut Salad

1 large can kraut, drained
1/2 cup shredded carrots
1/2 cup chopped onions
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1/2 cup chopped celery
1 t0 1-1/4 cups sugar
Combine the kraut and sugar. Trust me, this isn’t the time to pull back with the sugar - kraut needs it to pull this one off!
Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. German Kraut Salad is best if yo make it the day before you plan of serving it - it gives the flavors time to get acquainted.
Serve with grilled ribs or ham. Gut!!!
Recently, my husband and some golf buddies went to a fantastic German restaurant in Jasper, Indiana. He brought me a plate back of ribs and amazing kraut. The kraut was incredible - and the one singular thing that made it so special was sweet red peppers. They added the perfect contrast to the kraut itself.
Since we have such a cool little German vibe going here, I thought I’d throw you a few German words I recently learned. (I have a fetish for learning as many words in as many languages as my little brain will hold.)
