Hot Chocolate

Okay, if your main ingredient for hot chocolate is contained in a paper packet and comes in a box with 9 of its friends, raise your hand. Cease and desist. Don’t ever do that again, not even as a joke!

Chocolate is way too serious a thing to be treated so lightly. Besides, anything that shares a dish with coffee deserves far more respect.

Here’s one of the recipes we use the most around our house, starting around oh I don’t know, NOW, we start making hot chocolate daily and maintain the obsession right through April. A hot mug with marshmallows on top, alongside a plate of fresh-from-the-oven chocolate chip cookies is nothing short of paradise.

HOT CHOCOLATE:

Per Cup
Mix together:
1 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. cocoa
And ¼ cup cold water.

Bring to boil over low heat, boil for 3-4 minutes. Add 1 cup whole milk. Heat, but DO NOT BOIL. Add a dash of salt and ¼ tsp. vanilla. Stir; serve hot with marshmallows, if desired.

Here’s another recipe, for Hot Cocoa.
