Mayonnaise Biscuits

by Joi on February 23, 2006

1 cup self-rising flour
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 T. Mayonnaise

Mix well. Spoon into greased muffin pan. Bake at 450 degrees for 10-15 minutes.

Yield: 6rolls.

Okay, honesty moment, you can actually use regular milk in place of the buttermilk. Of course, the taste won’t be anywhere near as good and the biscuits won’t be nearly as sexy…..but, if regular is the only thing you have, so be it. ;)

A trick I learned many years ago – if a recipe calls for buttermilk and you only have regular milk – remove 1 Tbs of milk from a cup of milk and replace it with vinegar.

Great point, Joanie. That works perfectly. Even I actually found myself out of Buttermilk once! This trick saved my biscuits.
