The Buttermilk Poundcake!

by Joi on August 21, 2005

Yesterday I told you about a cookbook that I’m HIGHLY pimpin’ - and how that I’d be making the Buttermilk Poundcake…telling you how it is, etc. Well…I’ll try to put my fork down long enough to tell you that it’s probably the best poundcake I’ve ever had. (Okay, it ties with a Sour Cream one I normally make.)

It was easy to make and absolutely fantastic. So is the homemade Whipped Cream recipe that’s on the next page.

I also made the Buttermilk Cornbread recipe in the book - also mind-alteringly good. The recipe gives instructions for baking the cornbread, but I fried ours. The cornbread served alongside Navy beans and Buttermilk Chicken was gooooood.

Yes, Buttermilk Pound Cake, Buttermilk Chicken, and Buttermilk Cornbread. What can I say, I heart Buttermilk. (If you doubt me, and I kinda doubt that you do, check out the name of my cooking site)

As the resident food tester for Joi’s cooking, I can say without any fear of being wrong…the Buttermilk Chicken was as good or better than ANY I’ve ever tasted. The fried cornbread was as good or better than Mama’s and the Buttermilk Poundcake was so good it should be illegal. Joi Rocks the kitchen !
