Turtle Cake

by Joi on November 29, 2005

1 box German chocolate cake mix
3/4 cup butter
1 cup evaporated milk
1 (14 ounce) package caramels
1 cup chopped pecans, divided
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Prepare cake mix as directed on the box. Pour 1/4 to 1/2 of batter into a 13x9x2 inch baking pan coated with cooking spray.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

Melt butter, milk, and caramels in a saucepan and pour over partially cooked batter. Sprinkle half of pecans and all of chocolate chips over caramel mixture. Pour on remaining batter. Sprinkle with remaining nuts.

Bake 20 – 25 minutes longer.

It takes a little effort, but it is most definitely worth it. This cake recipe is truly priceless!
