According to a review by researchers at Michigan State University, only 3 % of Americans have a healthy lifestyle. Unfortunately, I didn’t leave a number off before or after the three. It stands alone…as in only three per cent of us have a healthy lifestyle. Mind boggling!
What constitutes a healthy lifestyle?
- Not smoking.
- Eating five or more fruits daily.
- Eating five or more vegetables daily.
- Maintaining a healthy weight.
- Being active.
You’ll be seeing a lot more recipes around here focusing on fruits and vegetables! There’ll still be other goodies as well, of course, but by all means let’s start aiming for better health. Today!

P.S. Have you ever eaten vanilla yogurt packed with fruit, with granola on top? It’s heavenly – I promise. My fave fruits to use are blueberries, blackberries and/or strawberries. I’d imagine that a combination of bananas and strawberries would also be really good. As for the granola, a box of Grape Nuts (or an off brand equivalent) does perfectly – just don’t get the flakes. Ewwww.
P.S.S. I’m harping, I admit it. But, if you have to eat out, try out different salads and soups. Subway and Wendy’s both have amazing salads, and Quizznos has soup to die for. (I’d trample small children for some of their Cheddar Broccoli soup right now!)
