You Gotta Get Paula Deen’s New Cookbook!

by Joi on August 20, 2005

If you’ve ever tuned in to FoodTV, you’ve surely seen the Southern Belle of the Kitchen, Paula Deen. I love this gal!

She’s just adorable. I could literally watch her all day long. But if being adorably entertaining was all she had going on for her, I’d leave her high and dry. Fortunately her recipes and tips are most excellent. I’ve never made anything that she “cooked up” that didn’t leave my taste buds hot and bothered.

For a recent birthday, one of the presents my husband (who also leaves me hot and bothered) gave me was her newest cookbook, “Paula Deen and Friends: Living It Up, Southern Style”. I couldn’t put it down until I’d devoured it cover to cover. It is packed full with the most incredible recipes you can imagine. Below are a few to tempt you:

  • Green Beans with New Potatoes
  • Bacon-Wrapped Grilled Corn on the Cob
  • Buttermilk Pound Cake (I’m making this one tomorrow - I’ll tell you how it is!)
  • Lace Hoecake Corn Bread
  • Roasted Carrots
  • Garlic Cheese Biscuits
  • Potato Soup with Shrimp
  • Pecan-Coated Fish with Remoulade Sauce
  • Sausage Swirls
  • Gingerbread Boys and Girls
  • Lemon Bars
  • Watermelon Fruit Basket

    Are you feelin’ it yet?

Trust me, this one’s a great one. Get the book, you’ll be really glad you did. You’ll be really, really glad you did.

I absolutely love Paula Deen too. I am looking for her recipe for “sweet baby carrot cake” which is printed in her Lady & Son’s Just Dessert cookbook. It is not one of her gooey butter cakes, which are so good, but a regular carrot cake. I cannot find it by doing a search at the foodtv site, but that is not uncommon. Their search engine doesn’t always find all recipes for some reason. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi! I’d love to help out - I’ll type in the recipe and use it as the next post here on the blog…

I’m on my way to type it in now.

Thanks for leaving a comment - always good to hear from another Paula Deen Fan!
