Popcorn Balls:

2 quarts popped popcorn (in a large bowl, set aside)
1 cup packed brown sugar
One-third cup water
One-third cup dark corn syrup
1/4 cup butter (no substituting with this recipe!)
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract

In a heavy saucepan, combine all the ingredients except for the popcorn and vanilla extract. Bring to a boil (over medium heat), stirring CONSTANTLY. Continue cooking (without stirring) until it reaches the "soft-crack stage", or 270 degrees on the candy thermometer.

Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla. Pour over the popcorn, stir evenly to coat. As soon as you can handle the popcorn without burning your hands, shape into balls. Allow to "harden" on waxed paper. It won't take long!

Yield: 6 servings

Nostalgia Electrics Old Fashioned Movie Time Hot Air Popcorn Maker

Nostalgia Electrics Old Fashioned Movie Time Hot Air Popcorn Maker

The Old Fashioned Movie Time Hot Air Popcorn Maker is a tabletop sized replica of the old street corner popcorn stands. This model uses hot air instead of oil, thereby creating a much healthier popcorn than the oil heated version. The unit can handle 3.5 oz of kernels, which is enough for a family of 4. The machine is fun to watch as popped popcorn slides down a chute, where you can put a bowl.

Additional Product Features Include:

  • Popper must cool for 15 minutes between batches
  • measuring cap ensures proper level of kernels
  • Comes with a limited 90-day warranty
