Santa's Favorite Cookies:
1 stick butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups oatmeal
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
Boil first four ingredients (at a "hard boiling" stage) for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; beat last three ingredients into mixture. Beat until thick. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let set until thick and hard.
