A few of our apple trees braving a downpour.
I’m working on a project involving apple recipes and came across a great recipe for Apple Fritters. I thought, Project Shmoject, I’m sharing this apple recipe with my food blog readers.
Apple Fritters Recipe
1-1/3 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 cups milk
1 egg, beaten
2 large apples
Beat the egg well. Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add milk and egg, gradually, stirring constantly.
Wash, core, and cut apples in 1/2 thick slices (crossways). Dip each round into batter and fry in melted shortening until delicately brown.
Drain and serve along with your meal or dust with powdered sugar for dessert. Bonus points when you serve it on a platter that’s been drizzled with caramel sauce. Caramel sauce also makes an excellent dipper for these fritters.
