Pig Paper Towel Holder: Pig Collectors will Lover This

September 16, 2019 By Joi Sigers

As someone who is both obsessed with and a collector of pigs, I feature a lot of pigs on this food blog. What’s funny is, I hear from SO many of you who feel just as strongly about them as I do.

They’re whimsical, fun, and impossibly cute… what’s not to love, right?!

The adorable Pig Paper Towel Holder, pictured here, is pretty much a MUST HAVE as far as I’m concerned.

Not only is she a beauty, she serves a very useful function – she give that ever-present and ever-wandering roll of paper towels an attractive place to call home.

  • Bring a farmhouse accent to your kitchen with this delightful paper towel holder featuring a fun-loving pig
  • This standing paper towel holder features a dark brown, rustic color that blends cleanly with your country-themed decor
  • The perfect housewarming or birthday gift for animal lovers, and anyone looking to add a country rustic aesthetic to their kitchen
  • Four hooves keep this holder standing evenly on your kitchen
  • Pig Paper Towel Holder, 6-1/4″W x 18-1/2″D x 6-3/4″H; Cold cast ceramic and wood

Whimsical Pig Planter

January 21, 2015 By Joi Sigers

Pig Planter

From the comments and e-mails, I know that a lot of you love pigs as much as I do. When I saw this adorable Metal Pig Planter , I thought of y’all right away.

Okay, that’s not the truth. The first thing I thought was, “Add to Cart” but the next thing I thought of was y’all. You were right behind the cart.

Amazon refers to the cutie above as a “Garden Decoration” but they don’t know me very well. There’s no way I’d put her outside and subject her to birds, wind, snow, squirrels, or mischievous cats. No way. She’ll go right in the kitchen with my other pig collectibles. I’m pretty sure I’ll grow herbs in her – chives, dill, thyme, basil… one or two of my favorites.

Then again she’d be a great spot to corral all the bags of Bob’s Red Mill mixes I always have on hand. Hmmmm, I guess I’ll decide when she shows up.

Also on the edge of the shopping cart….

When Food Network and Pigs Combine, My World Completely Lights Up

December 16, 2012 By Joi Sigers

Guy Fieri Pig Cutting Board

As you know, I collect pigs (in addition to just about every other animal you could name). You probably also know that I’m obsessed with (and collect) all things Food Network.

When my inner Elly May Clampett, and her love of all critters, combines with my inner kitchen snob (“Well… if Food Network’s logo isn’t on the box… I just don’t know…“) – look out. Fireworks on the brain.

The gorgeous Guy Fieri 11×14-in. Pig Cutting Board, Black Border is the latest spark that caused  brain fireworks.

Features:

  • An everyday cutting board for a variety of food prep tasks
  • Non-slip grip provides stability and safety during cutting
  • Non-absorbent
  • Reversible cutting surface
  • Gentle on blades, won’t dull knives
  • Easy to clean, dishwasher safe
Click through for a closer look.  This beautiful cutting board is less than $13.   You know what that means.. you can buy one to use and one for show.

Adorable Pig Canisters Seen on The Neely’s are Available Online

June 11, 2012 By Joi Sigers

Pig Canisters

If you read my food blog regularly (and I love wildly you if you do), you know how much I love pigs. I collect pigs for one reason – they make me smile.  Who wouldn’t smile when looking at something so ridiculously cute?!

For what seems like forever, I’ve wanted pig canisters. Each Christmas, my daughters have turned the region upside down trying to find a set for me.  I just always felt like pig canisters had to exist, even if I’d never actually seen them with my own eyes.

Then, not long ago, I was flipping through a new issue of Food Network Magazine when I came to a favorite section – the part in each issue when you get to see inside a favorite tv chef’s kitchen.  This issue was the Neely’s kitchen and I was beside myself… I love this couple!   Even before their beautiful mega-watt smiles jumped off the page at me, I noticed something else: Pig canisters on their counter!  I thought my piggy dreams were answered – the only problem was the issue didn’t tell me where I could get a set.

Back to square one.

A few months later, I opened my Food Network Store E-mail Newsletter and there they were – the adorable pig canisters that I’d seen and fallen in love with in the magazine!  The little beauties  (Del Rey 3-pc. This Lil’ Piggy Canister Set, Pink) are shown above and are… get this… available online in the Food Network Store.

From the Food Network Store:

We love the piggy canister set seen on Food Network’s “Down Home with the Neelys” so much, we were inspired to come up with one of our own. Our charming “Lil’ Piggy” canister set adds a touch of whimsy to any kitchen. The delightful, 3-piece ceramic set is perfect for dry kitchen storage from cookies to tea bags; The large container (who we have affectionately named Orson) holds up to a full 5-lb. bag of flour. Individual details lend each canister its own distinctive personality: Orson stands watch over the family with wide-open eyes while Pearl seems to smile down on Jr., the smallest piggy with a heart as full as his goodie-packed belly. Each boasts a cute, little curly tail in the back. Asymmetrical, folding ears add character while providing a functional grip for lifting the lids, which are equipped with removable silicone gaskets to keep contents fresh and secure. Hand-finishing gives each of the Lil’ Piggies a vintage, artisanal feel.

Click either the link or the picture for more information.  I can’t wait until I can see the beautiful Del Rey 3-pc. This Lil’ Piggy Canister Set, Pink every time I walk into my kitchen

I have the spot picked out already!

Antique and Collectible Pigs

March 21, 2012 By Joi Sigers

Collectible Pig Cookie JarIf you’ve read much of my food blog, you know I’m crazy wild about pigs. I’ve collected pigs for a long time (big pigs, small pigs, stuffed pigs, glass pigs, salt and pepper shakers, etc). If it has a snout, it has a place in my heart. Just saying.

I’ve recently fallen in love with antique pigs.  I scour vintage and antique shops, hoping and praying to find at least one elusive treasure. With a curly tail.

I’m glad to say that we pig collectors now have a great online source to scour – and we’ll never walk away (make that scroll away) disappointed.  Click the following link for a wonderful source of collectible, vintage, and antique pigs.

While on the site, browse around for other categories. You’ll find roosters, horses, cows, elephants, butterflies, cats (I collect those as well – including the kind that breath, sleep, and eat), dogs, owls, dolphins, rabbits, etc.

Clay Pig Tea Pot: Want, Need, Must Have

October 31, 2011 By Joi Sigers

Pig Tea KettleI was working on a post for my oldest daughter Emily’s tea blog when I came across the ADORABLE Brown Curious Pig Chinese Yixing Clay Tea Pot 21 ounces, shown above. For someone who collects pigs (not real pigs, my cat wouldn’t approve) in the kitchen, this little beauty made my jaw drop.

Product Description

This beautiful hand-crafted Yixing Ware tea pot is made from the clay of the Yixing Chinese province. Yixing ware has the unique ability to absorb the tea flavor with continued usage. The fired clay contains tiny air pockets which provide insulation and enhanced taste and aroma of fine tea. The different colors are achieved from pigments added into the clay before firing. Due to the handmade nature of this tea pot, the textures and patterns will vary from piece to piece.

Product Features

  • Brown curious pig uniquely stylized tea pot
  • Hand-crafted with Yixing Clay
  • Hand wash with hot water (no soap)

If you (or, say, someone on your Christmas list) love pigs as much as I do, this little beauty would make an incredibly unique and wonderful gift. See Brown Curious Pig Chinese Yixing Clay Tea Pot 21 ounces for a closer look. I can’t get over how adorable this is!

PETA Investigation Uncovers Cruelty and Torture

September 17, 2008 By Joi Sigers

I have a fat, fluffy stuffed lamb on my bed from Bath & Bodyworks. She’s very laid back – she doesn’t go looking for trouble, doesn’t pry into other people’s doing’s or lack of doing’s. Normally, I’m so laid back I put her to shame. I make her look like a plump little white, curly busy body.

However, I do tend to make as much noise as I think needs to be made if someone is doing something cruel or inhumane to another person or animal.

With that said, I want to give you a link below to a disturbing story a PETA investigation found. I’m a ridiculously emotional person – you know the stereotypical person that cries during sad movies? She’s me! I had to leave my computer halfway through the story because I couldn’t see through the water works. I minimized the page and came back to it 30 minutes later – after a cup of green tea. I guess green tea is my security blanket.

I guess you’ve figured out by now that it isn’t a story you should approach lightly. In fact, if you’re as emotionally-inclined as I am – you might be better off with just the headlines.

I’m not anti-meat, I’m anti-cruelty. People don’t have to behave as cruel beasts, yet that’s exactly what the individuals at this Iowa pig factory farm did. This farm supplies pigs who are raised and killed for Hormel products.

If you love animals too, however, you will probably want to know what’s going on. Sometimes the truth hurts like heck, but change can’t be brought about or needless suffering ended without it. The first link is to the story that had me running to my green tea. The second one is a short, but sickening, ammendment. The third one, and the most important one, is to a page where you can sign a petition of sorts to make your voice heard. These helpless animals can’t speak for themselves, they need us to do it for them.

I for one intend to yell.

Pigs and Piglets Cruelly Tortured

More Abuse

Take Action!

Before anyone jumps my case, I’m not condemning what anyone eats. I’m simply saying, there is NO NEED FOR CRUELTY AND NEEDLESS SUFFERING EVER. I hope you’ll add your name to the campaign.
