350 Best Vegan Recipes: Great Cookbook for ANYONE, Vegan or Not

February 20, 2017 By Joi Sigers

 350 Best Vegan Recipes

One of the cookbooks I’m currently getting the most use out of is Deb Roussou’s 350 Best Vegan Recipes.

Am I a vegan? No.

Am I a vegetarian? No.

Am I a vegan half the time? No.

Am I vegetarian half the time? Not so much.

And yet… this is a cookbook that I use regularly for recipes, ideas, and inspiration for my own recipes.

The last part of that, “inspiration for my own recipes” is probably the number one way I use cookbooks. While I almost always make it the way the recipe states first, I do love to take a great recipe for a joy ride and see what wonderful other sights we can see.

I’ll be posting a recipe in a few minutes that’s actually based on one of the smoothie recipes in 350 Best Vegan Recipes. The original “Desert Sunrise” is delicious, as are the other variations I’ve tried. Adding aloe vera juice and sparkling water makes for some out-of-this-world smoothies. As soon as I post the recipe, I’ll come back here and link to it right about here.

350 Best Vegan Recipes Cookbook Recipe

Some of the recipes in this cookbook:

  • Pan-Fried Onion and Potato Hash Browns
  • Basic Pizza Dough
  • Quick Cherry Tomato and Pesto Pizza
  • Manicotti Florentine
  • Orecchiette Pasta with Eggplant Garlic Sauce
  • Roasted Red Pepper and Chipotle Dip
  • Ranch Dressing
  • Fragrant Rice-Stuffed Peppers
  • French Onion Soup with Croutons
  • Lemon Cucumber Tabbouleh
  • Stacked Green Chile Enchiladas
  • An a lot more – 350 in all.. and more when you “tinker” with the recipes and create new ones.

While this is not a “gluten-free” cookbook, substitutions are always possible and it’s usually as simple as replacing a regular pasta with a gluten-free pasta. Easy peasy.

350 Best Vegan Recipes is perfect for anyone’s cookbook collection, because even if you aren’t a vegan or vegetarian and even if you (like me) have zero intention of becoming one (my love for burgers and fish are simply too strong), the healthy, creative, and delicious recipes will add both flavor and nutrition to your meals.

If you ARE a vegan or vegetarian… you’d better go ahead and order this book today because you will love it with all your vegetarian heart.

Cookbook Review: Vegan Everyday Will Make a (Vegan) Believer Out of You

March 7, 2016 By Joi Sigers

Vegan Everyday by Douglas McNish
Vegan Everyday: Wonderful for Vegans, Vegetarians, and Everyone Else!
When I received my review copy of Vegan Everyday, the author had me hooked from the start.  I must have stared at the Roasted Cauliflower and Chickpeas Tacos  on the cover for a couple of minutes. As the seconds ticked by, I just kept thinking…. could this look any more delicious? If all vegan meals were like this, why’d we need to eat anything else?!

Then the author, Doublas McNish, went on to fill an entire cookbook with similarly delicious vegan recipes. 500 to be exact.

The delicious recipes in Vegan Everyday aren’t just “doable,” they’re off the charts creative and fun.   They reflect the chef’s complex palate and experience, yet somehow remain very simple to create.

While the book is, obviously, a dream come true for vegans, you most certainly do not have to be a vegan to appreciate this book. That’s one of the things I love most about it. Vegan Everyday serves as the ideal way to incorporate healthier meals into your meal rotation. You’ll discover a whole new world of flavors and possibilities while widening your culinary horizons.

Author Douglas McNish starts with “Vegan Basics” featuring 20 recipes for dishes most popular in vegan cuisine like Whipped Non-Dairy Butter, Mayonnaise, Curry Paste, Vegetable Stock and pie crust.

{Review Continued Below….}

Vegan Everyday Cookbook
Vegan Everyday is Filled with Delicious Vegan Recipes
These 500 recipes include every meal of the day, as well as many special occasions. Below is a small sampling of the recipes in Everyday Vegan.

  •  Tomato and Spinach Ragout
  • Buddhist Noodle Bowl
  • Cheesy Broccoli Soup
  • African Spiced Tempeh Chili
  • Fettuccini Carbonara
  • Creamy Sweet Potato Linguine
  • Pineapple and Coconut Fried Rice
  • Okra and Squash Gumbo
  • Sicilian Eggplant Caponata
  • Oven Baked Spicy Risotto
  • Mushroom and Spinach Lasagne
  • Caramelized Onion and Olive Flatbread
  • Blueberry Cheesecake
  • Chocolate Banana Cake
  • Chocolate Cherry Dream Bars
  • Many more… 500 vegan recipes, in all

Vegan Everyday is perfect for experienced cooks, new cooks, busy families, college students, vegans, vegetarians, meat eaters AND those of us who have to eat gluten free, as many recipes are naturally gluten free – with the rest being easy to modify.

The cookbook is clear and concise, very easy to read, and includes many beautiful, full-page, colorful pictures. I love the “lead in” paragraph at the top of each recipe as well as the tips on the side.  These touches always feel like the recipe creator is right there with you, sharing their information with you.

I know you’ll love this beautiful cookbook as much as I do. See Vegan Everyday for more information.

About the Author: Douglas McNish is a vegan executive chef, instructor and consultant, with a strong commitment to health and organics. He is also the author of the bestsellers Eat Raw, Eat Well and Raw, Quick and Delicious!
