Possibly the Most Beautiful and Elegant Tableware Set EVER Created…

November 21, 2021 By Joi Sigers

This Tableware Set (Amazon link) is BEYOND gorgeous! I mean, come on, I’d consider it an honor to eat with these beauties. Pretty sure I’d feel like a modern day, Kentucky version of Cleopatra… you know… without murder and snakes.

I was originally thinking of this set for my own use (there’s that Cleopatra mindset again).. of how much better this set would look  on the kitchen counter for a Thanksgiving or Christmas buffet (than a splattering of forks and knives spread out like weapons of war). But, after thinking about it and looking at them a little more closely, I realize they’d also make wonderful gift ideas.

As your family admires them at your holiday get together, opening their own set would be even sweeter.

Mind you, I still simply must have my own set – and the sooner, the better – but I also have my eye on these for gift ideas. After all, don’t we all enjoy surrounding ourselves with as much beauty as possible??

This beautiful set is…. here come the six magic words… safe to use in the dishwasher!

More Features of the Tableware Set:

  • Each stainless steel silverware set contains 6 steak knives, 6 dinner forks, 6 dinner spoons, 6 teaspoons and a flatware holder.
  • Each piece of tableware has been carefully designed to meet the ergonomically appropriate size and weight, so that you can use it with ease and comfort, forget the silverware and enjoy dinners.
  • This flatware set is made of high quality food grade 410 stainless steel, Compared with 304 stainless steel has better strength, as well as hardness. It will not bend, break or be damaged by heat. Its sturdiness ensures that it will not bend easily, providing you with long term use.
  • The whole set of cutlery comes with a stainless steel sideboard, which has the function of storing and properly sorting the cutlery, breaking the disordered drawer, and providing good protection for your cutlery. Beautiful and gorgeous appearance, let you put it in any place in the house is like the existence of art (oh, yeah, that part really resonates with Joi-patra).
  • Highly mirror finish followed by an electroplating finish that gives it a more lustrous finish than normal tableware, with a smooth edge that ensures safety and no scratches. Elegant design and exceptional quality make this silver set ideal for kitchens, restaurants, hotels, banquet events and daily meals, as well as a great gift choice.

See Tableware Set (Amazon link) for a closer look.

Gorgeous 4-Slice Toaster with Extra Wide Slots (This color makes me want to redecorate my entire life…)

November 14, 2021 By Joi Sigers

I’m not sure any family uses their toaster any more than we do in this household. Toast, English muffins, bagels, waffles… in one way or another, it’s used on a daily basis. I love my toaster but have always wished it were a 4-slot instead of a 2-slot.

Earlier when I was pricing 4-slice toasters, I came across this beauty, the BUYDEEM Retro 4-Slice Toaster (Amazon link). It’s shown in Cozy Greenish, which I am WILD about… but it’s also available in a gorgeous yellow that I’m equally smitten with.

For those who like their appliances with less color, a great looking stainless steel is also available.

I love the retro look to this beauty, as well as the fact there are 4 extra wide slots – no more smushed bagels in this kitchen by gosh.

Product Features

  • Bagel & Muffin Expert – True bagel toasting function, heats up both sides of the bagel initially, then only toasts the cutting side of the bagel. Enjoy your crispy cutting side bagel!
  • Extra Wide Slots – 4 wide (1.4”) slots with self-centering guides, perfect for different kinds of slices.
  • 7 Toast Shade Settings – 7 browning controls for 5 basic functions with LED indicators. Satisfies all your daily toasting needs.
  • 4 Slice Dual Independent Control Panels – Less time, more choices; solid high lift lever, fulfill different tastes at the same time. Enjoy your morning with the ultimate breakfast.
  • Save your Space – With its compact and retro design, this stylish toaster can save space on your countertop, cord storage on the bottom to neatly store away your toaster.

Click through BUYDEEM Retro 4-Slice Toaster (Amazon link) for a much closer look at these beauties… you’re going to flip over the colors… and a lot more information. Any one of these three amazing colors would make a GREAT gift idea but, let’s be honest, one would look especially gorgeous in YOUR kitchen,

No Kitchen Should Be Without a Food Processor: I’m Willing to Die on that Hill (though I’d prefer it not come to that)

November 13, 2021 By Joi Sigers

I’ve been putting together gift ideas for cooks and foodies for the 2021 Gift Guide, so my mind has been entirely on showing you the best gift ideas for the cooks, bakers, and foodies on your list and in your life. I was deep in thought about this very thing while making chicken salad this afternoon when the two worlds of cooking and blogging collided.

As I added my almonds, celery, scallions, and chicken – and processed each, one at a time, in my Hamilton Beach Food Processor (Amazon link)…  one exactly like the one pictured, here… it occurred to me, a food processor makes the IDEAL gift!

I use mine almost daily…

  • chicken salad
  • homemade peanut butter
  • bacon butter
  • egg salad
  • tuna fish
  • chopped salads
  • guacamole
  • nuts for baking
  • flour and butter for pie crusts
  • etc..

It makes kitchen work and meal prep quick, painless, and keeps everything beautifully uniform.

About this particular Food Processor (from Amazon):

  • Bowl scraper attachment: Special attachment scrapes the sides of the bowl to keep ingredients close to the blades for more even results and to save you time when chopping or pureeing — no need to stop and remove the lid to use a spatula
  • 10 cup capacity: The generous 10 cup bowl can handle large volumes of foods without having to stop to empty it
  • Large feed chute: Can fit large foods like a whole block of cheese for quick, easy processing and less prep time
  • Versatility of a food processor, food chopper and vegetable chopper: Reversible stainless steel disc slices and shreds, while the stainless steel s-blade chops, mixes and purees
  • 2 speeds plus pulse and 450 watts of power: Food processor’s low and high speeds plus pulse gives you the control you need for a variety of recipes
  • Included Components: S-Blade for Chopping

There are, of course, MANY different brands and varieties of food processors on the market – I decided to link you to the exact one I  have simply because it’s the best one I’ve ever used, it has never let me down, and it’s a great deal – less expensive than most I’ve seen, yet easily as good. I also love the brand Hamilton Beach a great deal.

See Hamilton Beach Food Processor (Amazon link) for more information, pictures, and a video.

The list will grow daily, so bookmark the page and check back often!

Beautiful Indoor Herb Garden Kits… Santa, are You Listening?? (Delicious Gift Ideas)

October 20, 2021 By Joi Sigers

I have officially given Santa my first gift request of the season… the Indoor Herb Garden Kit (Amazon link) I just saw on Amazon. For too many years to count, I have planted herb gardens each spring and lovingly used them throughout the summer and even into the fall. But I’ve always wished for an attractive way to grow them indoors as well – year round.

While it’s certainly possible to set individual pots around the kitchen (something I do during the cold months), they aren’t necessarily attractive and don’t look like they have a plan, you know? Yet I’ve always been loyal to the practice because, frankly, I use fresh herbs with just about every meal – even if it’s just topping something with a little chopped fresh parsley or chives.

The ridiculously handsome Indoor Herb Garden Kit (Amazon link) pictured here promises to take care of three of my favorite herbs for me: Basil, Oregano, and Thyme. BUT it gets even better… there are also matching kits (equally handsome) for…

  • Basil, Cilantro, and Parsley (I use cilantro and parsley about as often as I use salt and pepper)
  •  Cilantro, Parsley, and Chives

My first thought was… in a perfect world, each of the three kits available would have completely different herbs, with none overlapping (as basil, cilantro, and parsley do)… but then it hit me – I use these particular herbs often enough to NEED more than one plant! Besides, who’s to stop someone from planting rosemary, dill, or stevia seeds in one and labeling it such?!

Why You Need an Air Fryer (and Why They Make IDEAL Gifts for Cooks)

October 18, 2021 By Joi Sigers

Cosori Air Fryer

Cosori Air Fryer

The air fryer pictured above (nevermind the little Matchbox truck… I have three grandbabies, all boys, so there are little cars, trucks, and dinosaurs everywhere… and I thank God for it daily!) is the latest picture of proof that… well… sometimes I’m wrong.

You see, when air fryers (Amazon link) first became a “thing,” I never thought I’d ever want one, yet alone use one. When it comes to some things, I can be very, very, very old school – this is never more true than in the kitchen. Now, mind you, I still think a cook should stay sharp with all forms and techniques of cooking – that is to say, he/she should regularly make omelets, saute’, make gravy, broil, poach eggs, etc… not only does repetitively using a cooking technique keep your skills sharp, doing so allows you to develop the absolute best way of making something. Relying solely on one small kitchen appliance (at the expense of other styles of cooking) doesn’t serve one well. I know a family member who became SO dependent on her microwave once that she had to go out and buy a new pan to boil water in when her microwave decided it no longer wanted to work for a living.

I didn’t ask if she remembered how to turn the stove on again – I was afraid of the answer.

However, the other end of the spectrum is also very true and can also make you an even better (and more creative) cook: Having a variety of fun kitchen appliances encourages you to cook different meals and experiment with different foods and styles of cooking… both of which make your kitchen a much more delicious place to be.

So, if we’re numbering the reasons you need an Air Fryer, I’d put Creativity at the top of the list. The ones that follow it, however, are just as important.

  1. Creativity. New appliances and gadgets encourage creativity and can, by their very nature, shake you out of the all too common kitchen rut! There are so many wonderful air fryer cookbooks (Amazon link) and even magazines on the newsstand that provide even more channels for creativity and fun.
  2. Crispiness. While I love, love, love experimenting with different techniques and recipes for the air fryer, want to know the one thing I love it for the most? The one thing I’d fight someone for if they came to steal our air fryer? Hold onto your seats, this is a very high brow, food blogger food…. tater tots! Hear me out, fellow foodies, the air fryer will make you fall in love with tater tots all over again. It gives them a crispiness that the oven simply cannot muster. If you want just a little crispiness, you pull them out sooner… if you want a lot more crispiness, you leave them in a little longer. Personally, I think a perfect tater tot is a little crispy on the outside and soft inside. The air fryer gives you that restaurant quality tot you never knew you missed until you make it yourself. Air fryers are also IDEAL for fries, chicken strips, onion rings, and just about anything else you can think of!
  3. Coronary Health! Obviously, anytime you can replace fried foods with “air fried” foods, your heart and arteries will thank you for it. Fried foods are horrific for your heart’s health – something I (as a southerner) am pained to admit, but it’s true. When you air fry the food, it is just as delicious and SO much healthier.
  4. Convenience. Remember the three grandbabies I mentioned earlier? I have a lot of blessings in life (wonderful husband, three beautiful daughters, three beloved sons-in-law, three perfect grandbabies, precious cats…) and one I never take for granted is the BLESSING of watching my grandbabies while their parents are at work during the week. The boys are all under 4, so this is a blessing that keeps MiMi hopping! Needless to say, meal prep and quicker meals are big on my list. The air fryer cuts cooking time in half for many foods – allowing me to fix quick meals for the little guys and quick suppers for me and my big guy! It’s also an excellent way to cook frozen foods such as fries, fish sticks, and chicken strips. They go into the air fryer frozen and come out, minutes later perfectly delicious – often even better than when cooked in the oven. Quicker, always as good/often better, and no preheating is necessary.
  5. Cooler in the Kitchen. In summer, I lose track of the number of times I plan meals around what will keep from “heating up the kitchen.” The air fryer allows the tater tots or crinkle cut fries to accompany the cookout!

I’m not going to list the following “bonus” with the ones above, and not just because it doesn’t start with a C… although I am absolutely anal enough to be bothered by that. Anytime we (any age) can learn something new and take on a new challenge, we do absolute wonders for our brains. The brain loves a challenge and, frankly, most of us don’t offer our brain nearly enough challenging opportunities. When I have a new kitchen gadget or appliance (or a new toy to put together for my little buddies) that I have successfully put together or learned how to use, I can literally feel my brain buzz with excitement. It’s kind of a rush, if we’re being honest.

I love that learning new things like this makes my brain set up and take notice. In the same way we all need to be more mindful of our heart’s health, we absolutely need to be more mindful of our brain’s health.

I just realized, I could have used “Cognitive Benefits” in the list and still kept with the C theme. Sigh.

The air fryer will make an excellent addition to your family, if you don’t already have one. It would also make an excellent gift idea for anyone on your Christmas list (or gifts for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Anniversaries, birthdays, graduates…). It is an extremely thoughtful gift idea and one the recipient will cherish and think of you each time they use it.

If you’re lucky, they may even make you some tater tots.

While our brand is the Cosori Air Fryer, I’m linking you to a newer model. This one has the coveted Amazon Choice label and something I generally find just as lovely – a $20 off coupon!

Fellow Purple Fanatics, You’re Going to LOVE These Dishes

November 11, 2020 By Joi Sigers

There are some things in life that kind of define me (cats, coffee, old movies, chocolate, more cats, strawberries, baseball…). One of the most beautiful definitions I have associated with me is the color purple. I’ve been a purple fanatic long before I could even spell it.

A while back, I did a post about purple in the kitchen and heard from quite a few people through e-mail echoing my love of purple. That’s why, after seeing (and falling head over purple sock-covered heels in love with them) these dishes on Amazon, I knew I had to share them here.

This gorgeous stoneware square 16 piece dish set is absolutely stunning. While I love the color, I love the shape just as much. They’re simply gorgeous… but I said that already, didn’t I?!

My dilemma is the fact that they’re also available in my second-favorite color, red!

While I’m adding these to the Christmas Gift Ideas Roundup, if you’re anything like me, you’re thinking more about your own table setting right now than anything.

These beauties are microwave and dishwasher safe, making their appeal EVEN greater. Click here (Amazon link) for a closer look.

2020 Gift Ideas for Cooks and Foodies: A Beautiful Handmade Ceramic Bowl

October 25, 2020 By Joi Sigers

I’m a little behind with getting my 2020 Christmas Gift Ideas for Cooks category going here on the food blog but, hey, it’s 2020… all rules and norms have been thrown out the back door!

I actually only thought about the idea when I came across this gorgeous handmade ceramic bowl (Amazon link) on Amazon earlier. I was looking through their handmade items and threw some of the most adorable handmade soaps you’ve ever seen into my cart (they’re shaped like Christmas candy and they’re too cute to be believed). After I threw them into my cart without thinking twice, I saw a thumbnail of these gorgeous bowls and had to take a closer look.

From Amazon:

This beautiful handmade bowl is perfect for cereal, soup, ice cream and much, much more! During firing, the Floating Blue and Sapphire glazes react to the temperature and atmosphere in the kiln so that each bowl is unique. This bowl is just right for microwaving a single serving of hot cereal or soup and are equally good for cold foods as well.

This bowl is wheel-thrown stoneware clay. The bottom is ground smooth with a slight ring at the edge, sometimes known as a foot. It is microwave, oven and dishwasher safe.

  • Glazes are lead free and totally safe
  • Bowls are approximately 2 1/2″ tall, 5 1/2″ in diameter.
  • Capacity is approximately 15 oz.

Take a closer look at this beautiful handmade ceramic bowl (Amazon link). I absolutely love it!

Multi Hard Boiled Egg Peeler: One A-Peeling Kitchen Gadget!

October 30, 2019 By Joi Sigers

Ingenious! This Multi Hard Boiled Egg Peeler is going under the 2019 Christmas Gifts for Cooks Guide category but, let’s be honest here, this is something most of us will want… not just before Christmas, but also before Thanksgiving. Kangaroo Eggs (Deviled Eggs to most of you, but one of my daughters started calling them Kangaroo Eggs when she was little and they’ve been Kangaroo Eggs in our family since. Come on, how could they NOT be?) are a staple of our family gatherings. Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Fourth of July – hmmm, now that I think about it, they’re at get-togethers as much as I am.

The only thing I hate about making Kangaroo Eggs (Deviled Eggs) is the peeling. Hate it with a passion. Some have a beautiful gift for shelling a hard-boiled egg without causing any damage to the egg, itself. They’re peels even look like works of art. My youngest daughter, Stephany, is the world’s most gifted egg artist. Every egg, perfect. Every peel, long and glorious. She doesn’t even chip a nail in the process.

I do NOT have this gift. Like, at all.

That’s why I am very excited about the Multi Hard Boiled Egg Peeler, on the left.

I’ll soon be making these popular eggs and everyone will think Steph made them! I may or may not let them in on my secret.

Multi-Hard Boiled Egg Peeler Description:

  • Peels 1-3 eggs in under ten seconds. Quick, simply & no mess.
  • Egg Stripper spins and rotates in water to loosen and remove egg shells.
  • Simply fill the egg stripper base with water up to the water fill line. Add hard-boiled & chilled eggs. Close & shake it up and down (but not too hard!) for about 5 seconds.
  • Seeing the white of the egg indicates that egg shell was loosened enough and the egg will be ready to slip out of its shell.

The Multi Hard Boiled Egg Peeler is available in two sizes – the small allows you peel 3 eggs at once, while the larger one accommodates 5 eggs. Since I make mine in batches of 12, I’m just ridiculously anal enough to go with the smaller one, as 3 is a factor of 12…. 4 spins around the block will get the job done.

And they thought I never paid attention in math class. Obviously I did…. that day.

For those who want to REALLY make Kangaroo Eggs (Deviled eggs) as simple as is legal, check out the Dash Egg Cooker.

Bee-U-Tiful Glass Honey Dispenser (Sorry, I Had To….)

October 10, 2019 By Joi Sigers

I eat honey as often as any self-respecting bear.. I mean, bears come to me for advice, okay?

My Honey of a Checklist

  • in hot tea
  • honey mustard dressing
  • on oatmeal
  • on toast
  • drizzled over hot cornbread
  • in yogurt
  • on chocolate with ghee and sea salt
  • drizzled over freshly fried chicken (add a little red pepper flakes for a real knockout!)
  • a little warm honey drizzled over bacon & eggs is Heavenly
  • I have even been known to drizzle warm honey over pizza – it is AMAZING, especially if you throw in a little crushed red pepper flakes.

Judge me, if you must, but it will not slow me down.

The only drawback to my honey fanaticism is the sticky little containers – even those shaped like bears look (and feel) unsightly after a while. I was actually on Amazon yesterday shopping for Orange Blossom Honey (have mercy) and I saw the beauty pictured to the right.

Can you say TOTAL game-changer?

The Glass Honey Dispenser promises me that it will not drip, it will keep my honey (even the extra-special kind I order from Amazon) fresh and fabulous – and that it will look gorgeous doing it.

This bee-utiful hive-shaped glass dispenser would make a wonderful gift idea for anyone who loves honey.
